In reference to the decision of the Federal Government made on April 15th 2020 to prohibit major sport events until end of August 2020 due to the corona pandemic, we, the organisation team of the host association O-SEE Sports e.V., must announce the cancellation of the O-SEE Challenge 2020 as well as the XTERRA European Championship 2020.
Both events should traditionally take place on the 3rd weekend of August at the Olbersdorfer lake / Nature park Zittauer Gebirge.
The alternatives of postponing the date or limiting the size of the event were examined in detail, but were found to be inappropriate and were therefore rejected. This decision, which was very difficult for all of us, was made by the organizers, the host communities of Olbersdorf and Zittau, and the major sponsors of the event. We regret this cancellation very much, as it was supposed to be the 20th anniversary of the event that we all love so much. Also the cancellation of the European Championship as the highlight of the XTERRA European Tour hurts a lot, but it is one of the many international XTERRA Championships that have been cancelled already.
O-SEE Sports as the organizer offers all registered participants for the competitions XTERRA, O-SEE Classic, O-SEE Team, O-SEE Reduced, O-SEE Light to credit 50% of the paid entry fee for a registration for the O-SEE Challenge/XTERRA 2021. Participants who donate their entry fee completely will receive a donation receipt for the respective amount. O-SEE Sports e.V. will contact all registered participants until May 30th, 2020 by mail for individual clarification. O-SEE Sports e.V. asks for your understanding that the entry fees cannot be refunded completely. The non-profit association has already made advance financial payments for the organisation of this year‘s event. A complete repayment would put the association in an existential emergency.
O-SEE Sports e.V. would like to thank you for your understanding in this extraordinary situation.
The XTERRA German Tour coordinated by O-SEE Sports e.V. is also cancelled, because all three triathlon events of the tour (Schalkenmehren, Schorfheide, O-SEE Challenge) have been cancelled in the meantime. Whether the duathlon events cancelled in spring can be made up for in autumn is uncertain. Should they take place, the three remaining duathlon races will be held as individual events, a tour evaluation will not be practiced.
Stay healthy - and stay loyal to us!

Head of Organization and Member of the Board O-SEE Sports e.V
