The favourites prevail at the XTERRA European Championships at the Olberdorfer See in the nature park Zittauer Gebirge. After his victory in 2019 at the XTERRA Germany at O-SEE, Arthur Serrieres repeated his triumph at the same place. And again, thanks to a strong running performance, he was able to “clinch” the victory only in the 3rd discipline. Second place went to the high-flyer of the season from Denmark – Jens Emil Sloth Nielsen. Third place went to the Czech Kocar, who possibly lost his victory due to a mistake on the run course, as he had been in the lead until then.
In the women’s race Sandra Mairhofer underlined her outstanding form this year. After a good swim, the likeable South Tyrolean immediately took the lead on the 36km long and technically demanding MTB course and never relinquished it. Even on the run course she was able to extend her lead and won with a comfortable 6 min advantage over XTERRA Short Track Germany winner Diede Dideriks (NED).With 3rd place the Czech Helena Erbenova-Karaskova showed that she is still a force to be reckoned with. In 2018, the former champion of European cross triathlon declared the end of her career, but returned to the XTERRA circus in 2019 and has since been extremely successful again.
